Joey Logano is one of four playoff competitors who will compete for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway this weekend. He will be joined by Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain and Christopher Bell.

However, let’s delve into three reasons why Lugano is the champion of the 2022 Cup Series.

Entering this weekend’s event at Phoenix Raceway, Logano has pure experience over the rest of his competitors and isn’t really close.

The #22 driver will appear for the fifth time in Championship 4, which has been associated most of the time during the playoff with Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick.

The next closest driver in Championship 4 is Elliott with three matches while Chastain and Bell make their debuts. Overall, the three drivers made five combined participations that match Lugano’s total.

While experience wasn’t necessary for the latter two champions, Lugano knows how to tackle the entire week leading up to the event. Plus, the scene wouldn’t be too big for him because he had dealt with this kind of pressure before.

The 32-year-old has a previous record of achievement; However, the statistics backing him up prove that he will be right in the mix on Sunday afternoon.

Phoenix Raceway is rated as a shorter flat track and that’s exactly the news Logano wants to hear before the fight this weekend. The #22 driver was the best shortest flat-track driver overall among the current contenders.

Lugano’s average speed rating is 5.6 which is better than Elliot’s rating of 6.6 in second place. While Kevin Harvick has a better speed ranking, he is no longer eligible for the tournament after being eliminated in the Round of 16.

Overall, Lugano and Elliott ranked second and third, respectively. Meanwhile, Bale comes in as the third best driver in the fourth championship with a 10.8 speed ranking over the course of the season. The driver of car number 20 is eighth overall.

Finally, Chastain comes in as the lowest contender in Championship 4 on shorter flat tracks with a pace order of 12.6 with him being the 10th best overall.

These stats represent the entire season and may not show who has been the best lately. However, the positive statistics do not stop there for Lugano.

Lugano won 30 races during his career in the NASCAR Cup Series; However, Phoenix Raceway in particular has had its best track since the start of the 2019 season.

The 32-year-old has an average finishing position of 6.3 at Phoenix which is better than any other track with more than five races in that time period. Logano also has one win, three top 5 positions, and six top ten positions in those races.

Logano drove more laps at Phoenix than any other track during this stretch. The venue is clearly one of his best tracks and one that plays in his favor as the championship is set in Avondale, Arizona.

Christopher Bell is the new elite of NASCAR closer in 2022

In fact, Logano finished eighth and is second after Chastian in terms of drivers in Championship 4. They were the only two drivers to finish in the top ten.

Based on what was presented above, there seems to be a good chance that Lugano will come home with the 2022 Cup on his best track.
