NBA 2K23: Best Young Forwards (SF)

Young forwards are turning into a jack of all trades when it comes to the NBA as Point Forward is now a sought-after asset for teams across the league. Many of the league’s top players were junior strikers, such as LeBron James, Larry Bird and Julius Irving. The ability to create plays for colleagues as well as score goals for themselves has always been highly desirable. Moreover, many of the junior strikers must be at least fit in defense either on the periphery or in the center to know the time of the court.

Below, you will find the best young strikers in NBA 2K23 by overall rating. As the most diverse position, every player on the list has a secondary position. However, some players have a junior striker listed as a secondary, yet their overall rating puts them on the list. The first name on the list can be said to be the greatest player in NBA history.

1. LeBron James (96 total)

Team: Los Angeles Lakers
sixth, c
Best reviews:
97 Layup, 91 Close Shot, 90 . pass accuracy

“King James” is the best young striker in NBA 2K23 and is one of the few who engages in the conversation all the time alongside Michael Jordan. James won four NBA championships, multiple MVP awards, and two Olympic gold medals. The 37-year-old is the first player to collect 10,000 or more points in his career, rebounds, and assists, the three main counting stats in basketball. It is just a testament to his overall greatness.

James has some incredible abilities in all aspects of his game. He’s a confident shooter with 91 close shots, 81 mid-range shots, and even his respectable three-point shot at 79. His indoor game is also great with a 97 Layup, which gives a soft touch around the edge, but he can power the ball home when needed through 90 to teach. Driving Dunk Cars. James has quality in the gaming department too with an accuracy of 90 passes, which means he will be able to pick his teammates with great ease, which is James’ signature. He’s a solid defender with 89 perimeter defenses and 82 inside defenses, making him a challenge to the best offensive players in the league.

2 – Kawhi Leonard (94 total)

Team: Los Angeles Clippers
Better Reviews:
93 medium-range shots, 98 close shots, 97 perimeter defense

Kawhi Leonard is a standout player on both ends of the field, having led the Toronto Raptors to their first NBA Championship and so far only in 2019. He then signed with his hometown of Los Angeles and joined the Clippers this off-season. The 2021-2022 season saw Leonard sitting out the entire season while he was recovering from a partial anterior cruciate ligament tear. That’s why the Clippers missed the playoffs, so adding Leonard should inspire them to succeed.

“The Klaw” is an impressive shooter with 98 Close Shot, 93 Mid-Range Shot and 83 Three-Point Shot, allowing him to drop shots at will. Inside, Leonard has great stats with the 90 Layup being the lead, but the 85 Driving Dunk means finishing on the shelf isn’t an issue at all. The defensive side of Leonard’s game is great with 97 perimeter defenses choking opponents out of the arc. Add to that his Hall of Fame Menace badge and Gold Clamps badge and “The Klaw” won’t be easy to shake. Leonard also has 85 steals, making him a constant threat in the passing lanes to get the ball away and start a quick break.

3. Jimmy Butler (93 total)

Team: Miami Heat
Better Reviews:
92 layup, 90 surround defense, 88 close shots

Jimmy Buckets is a six-time NBA All-Star and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team five times. Last season saw Miami reach the Eastern Conference Finals, where they faced Final Conference champion Boston Celtics. Despite Jimmy Butler’s best efforts, Miami was eliminated. Butler hopes his team can take two steps forward after also losing and winning the 2020 NBA Finals next season.

The 33-year-old has some quality reviews and is strong in most areas of the game. Defensively, he has an amazing defense of 90 perimeters as well as 84 steals. Inside, he’s strong on the post with an 82 Post Fade and 82 Post Hook to go with the 84 Post Control and 92 Layup, demonstrating his superiority around the basket. He doesn’t slack with the jump shot either with 88 close shots, 84 mid-range shots, and 71 three-point shots.

4 – DeMar DeRozan (89 total)

Team: Chicago Bulls
Better Reviews:
98 close shots, 92 shots, 90 mid-range shots

There were plenty of surprises when Chicago opted to acquire DeMar DeRozan, but he proved his biggest critics wrong in one of his best seasons after averaging 27.9 points in 2021-2022. DeRozan has some talent around him with Zach LaVine, Nikola Vučević and the Lonzo Ball (though hitting the ball back in real life) all playing a part in pushing the Chicago game, but the Bulls eventually lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in five games.

“Deebo” is a great shooting game with 98 close shots and 90 medium range shots. His three ball is a respectable 78 three-point shot, but it should be good enough outside the arc. He has Gold Middy Magician and Gold Volume Shooter badges, which are also supposed to support his awesome shot stats, so start hitting your mid-range jumpers early and often. Indoor scoring isn’t an issue for him either with the 92 Layup and 84 Driving Dunk, so he has options when attacking the paint. The 33-year-old has an impressive 83 ball handling with 80 ball speed, which enables him to dazzle defenders or blast away without a problem.

5. Jaylen Brown (87 total)

Team: Boston Celtics
Better Reviews:
90 Layup, 89 Dunk to drive, 88 Mid-range shots

Jaylen Brown averaged 23.6 points in 2021-2022, contributing to Boston’s NBA Finals run as the two-pronged lead with Jason Tatum. Brown was named the NBA All-Star Player in 2021 for the first time, and he hopes his form will force him to recalculate again in 2022-2023.

Brown has some solid scoring stats with his 90 Layup and 89 Driving Dunk. He’s also a great shooter with an 88 close-shot and 88 mid-range shots to match his 83 three-point shot. He can shoot from anywhere on the field with relative ease. The 25-year-old doesn’t slack off in defense either with 87 Perimeter Defense to shut down those long-range attempts, especially if he’s tasked with defending a duo instead of a three, like James Harden of the Philadelphia 76ers contender.

6. Brandon Ingram (86 total)

Team: New Orleans Pelicans
Best reviews:
95 close shot, 91 close shot, medium range shot 89

Brandon Ingram had his best season for assists after averaging 5.6 points in 2021-2022 to line up with 22.7 points, just below his career high. He’ll be looking to carry that shape up and hope Zion Williamson gets back to his best to make a real playoff push for New Orleans at the end of the season.

Ingram has some excellent shooting stats, most notably 91 close shots followed by his midrange shot 89. His 81 three-pointed shot shows that he has quality from every range and can drop shots with ease. He is equally skilled at playing inside with his 84 Layup for smooth finishing touches and 80 Driving Dunk to rush home and show the defense who’s the boss.

7. Chris Middleton (86 total)

Team: Milwaukee Bucks
Better Reviews:
88 free shots, 86 close shots, 85 medium range shots

Chris Middleton has helped three-time NBA All-Stars the Milwaukee Bucks to their first NBA championship since 1971 alongside Jrue Holiday and world-class talent and franchise player Giannis Antetokonmo. Middleton helped his team get into the NBA Playoffs again in 2022 only to pick up an early injury that affected the team. Ultimately, the Bucks lost in the second round to the Boston Celtics in seven games.

“Khash Money” has a lot of great qualities at its disposal. It’s a great shooter with 86 close shots, 86 mid-range shots and 81 three-point shots. He also has a Gold Claymore badge which will give an extra boost to his shot percentage if he stays steady before receiving the ball. Middleton is weaker on the inside, but has 84 Layup and 80 Post Fade. Stopping triples shouldn’t be a problem at all with his 85 perimeter defense.
