NASCAR gives incentive to potential blood donors to stop the pit | News, sports, jobs

PARKERSBURG – As fall approaches, the American Red Cross is asking the public to kick off the season with a life-saving blood donation.

During leaf rotation, the need for blood never changes. Those delivering this fall play an important role in keeping blood flow on track for patients who depend on blood products for care, especially ahead of the busy holiday season. Book a blood donation appointment using the Red Cross Blood Donation App, visit RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Thanks to Sport Clips Haircuts, all those stopping by the Red Cross Blood Campaign Tour will automatically be entered through the end of September for a chance to win a VIP NASCAR racing experience, including two tickets to the 2023 Sport Clips race of the winner’s choice, a round-trip airfare for two, and accommodation in Hotel for three nights, admission to the Hospitality Tent at the Sport Clips racetrack, if available, and a $750 gift card. Plus, those who come to bid by the end of the month will also receive a coupon for a free haircut via email, also thanks to Sport Clips. All those who come to bid from October 1 to 31 will receive a $5 e-gift card emailed to the merchant of their choice.

To donate blood, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enable the donate blood skill on any Alexa device Echo to schedule an appointment or for more information.

All types of blood are needed to ensure a reliable supply to patients. A blood donor card, driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years old in most states (16 years with parental consent where state law allows), who weigh at least 110 pounds and are generally in good health, may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors age 18 or younger also must meet certain height and weight requirements.

Blood and platelet donors can save time on their next donation by using RapidPass to complete a pre-donation reading and online health history questionnaire, on donation day, before arriving at the blood donation drive. To get started, follow the instructions at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or use the Blood Donor app.
