What is Daniel Amigos? All about Daniel Suarez’s initiative for Latino NASCAR fans

Daniel Suarez punches a taco-shaped pinata after winning the Toyota/Save Mart 350 earlier this year, it has to be one of the many happy stories NASCAR fans tackled in 2022. Suarez made history in the world of motorsports after that. He became the first Mexican driver to win the highest rank in the sport, besides being the only Latino on the field. Driving his #99 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 that Justin Marks sent to the Trackhouse Racing flagship team this year, Suarez certainly managed to capture the attention of Mexican fans and give them a reason to watch NASCAR.

Ever since Monterey, Mexico debuted the 2017 Daytona 500, he has been impressed by his performance behind the wheel. As he was making his way into the sport, an idea popped into the now 30-year-old driver’s head.

With the aim of building an inclusive community for the people of his country in sports, Daniel Suarez created the Daniel Amigos concept. The idea was to introduce Latinos to the sport, help them have a good time on the tracks, while also showing support for their favorite driver.

Since 2018, the idea has gained traction, and what began as an effort directed at Latinos now welcomes anyone wishing to support Suarez. after every thing, ‘friends’ It is a way to address a friend in Spanish. Suarez spoke about the initiative as the sport heads into the first round of the 12th race of the 2022 qualifying season, and said:

“Daniel Amigos was just an idea. I’ve always wanted to do something special for Latinos, and I was just trying to come up with ways to bring this community into the racetrack and give them a special and great experience. After several conversations with Coca-Cola and NASCAR, we were able to make it happen in 2019 at Auto Club Speedway is in California and it just grew out of here. It took a lot of work by Coca-Cola and NASCAR to make that happen, but I’m really excited about it.”

Track racer Daniel Suarez is ready to start his 12th qualifying round with a new paint scheme on his #99 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

The new paint features Minute Maid Aguas Frescas as the primary sponsor at #99. Aguas Frescas is a group of popular fruit-based drinks by The Coca-Cola Company under the Minute Maid sub-brand and primarily sold in Mexico.
