Mike Crack made Lance Stroll’s predictions for the battle of Fernando Alonso

Aston Martin boss Mike Crack has suggested that Lance Stroll could surprise people in the in-team battle with Fernando Alonso next year..

Aston Martin replaces multiple world champions with another in 2023, with Sebastian Vettel He left the sport and joined Alonso from Alps.

Indeed, the deal that raised eyebrows when announced was given Alpine and Aston’s position in the standings this year, but it is a clear indication of the ambition the Silverstone-based team displays in the years to come.

Work continues on a new plant and there are huge investments being invested in the team, making them one of the most interesting projects on the network as they look to climb the field.

Alonso wanted a piece of the action, then, and joined Lance Stroll for next year, with the Canadian being retained by the team.

Stroll will be seen as Aston’s No. 2 driver for 2023, of course, given Fernando’s ability, standing in the sport and his reputation, but Crack thinks Lance might be able to surprise a lot with his performance against the Spaniard, especially given how well, he’s Vettel has faced in recent seasons and quite a bit:

“When Sebastian joined the team, people were saying Lance didn’t have a chance, but Lance did incredibly well against the four-time world champion. It was a close match.

“People are saying the same now that Fernando has joined the team, but let’s wait and see. Lance might surprise a few people.

“They have known each other for many years, raced against each other, and Fernando knows the qualities that Lance has. There is real respect there.”

Stroll may be one of the youngest drivers on the grid, but he’s also one of the most experienced names, having been in the sport for several seasons now.

He will be looking to use that in the fight with Fernando, then, but the goal should also be, in part, to learn from Alonso given the Spaniard’s longevity in Formula 1 and the achievements he has scored.

The two together make for a great dynamic and Aston hope this will help them raise the offside rankings from next year onwards.
