Everest expands into the personal accident and collective health market

Everest Insurance, Inc.’s subsidiary, Everest Re, said it is expanding into the personal accident and group health insurance market with the launch of a new range of group personal accident insurance products.

Products include K-12 student accidents, participant accidents, volunteer accidents, and have dedicated protections for schools, youth sports, associations, and voluntary organizations.

“Organizations that operate group activities, including sports, volunteering and after-school programs, require financial protection and the ability to provide appropriate care to their members in the event of an accident,” said Ed Ramos, vice president of product development and management at Everest Accident and Health.

He added, “Everest’s expanded offering now provides this coverage to schools, youth sports, associations and voluntary organizations in need. Building on more than 25 years of experience in the accident and health industry, Everest’s new range of specialist mass personal accident products offer a robust suite of coverages and benefits not consistently available in market and provide peace of mind so groups of participants can focus on their educational mission or give back to their communities.”

Everest Insurance said that K-12 Student Accident Insurance includes basic accident and catastrophic accident insurance and provides schools and their students with benefits for covered injuries while attending school and students attending school-sponsored and supervised activities. Its Participant Accident Insurance provides coverage for unexpected injuries that occur while participating in activities such as amateur and youth sports groups, camps, clinics and daycares. Volunteer Accident Insurance protects nonprofits and charities by providing coverage for medical expenses incurred by injured volunteers.

Tremor - the modern way to put reinsurance

The company said its expanded accident and health offering complements its existing broad portfolio of property, loss and specialty coverage. Everest’s comprehensive accident insurance protection enables groups of participants to fulfill their duty of care, with a first line of defense against a participant’s injury claim, and ensures that in the event of an injury, participants can access quality medical treatment without the financial burden often associated with out-of-pocket medical costs .

“For nearly three decades, Everest has provided reinsurance capacity and support to the accident and health market, demonstrating our product expertise, financial strength, and innovation in providing solutions,” said Lou Montegodo, Senior Vice President, Everest Accident and Health. Building on our deep experience, we are now expanding our primary insurance solutions into the accident and health market, providing our valued distribution partners with a new preferred carrier to meet the personal accident insurance needs of their client group.”
