Bills Dawson Knox’s younger brother, Luke Knox, passed away at the age of 22

Sean McDermott addressed the media saying their hearts and prayers are to Dawson Knox, who did not attend training.

MIAMI, Florida – Fifa footballer Luke Knox, who made 23 appearances in Mississippi State before joining the Panthers and was the brother of the Buffalo Bills, Dawson Knox, has died, the university said Thursday.

School officials said Luke Knox died Wednesday evening. The cause was not disclosed, although the university said police did not suspect an error.

Knox, who studied business, was 22 years old.

FIU coach Mike McIntyre wrote on social media: “Words cannot express our heartfelt sadness over the passing of our teammate and friend, Luke Knox. I had the honor of coaching Luke for the Ole Miss and at FIU. While I was impressed by his passion and love for football, I was impressed by his passion and love for football. The real one for his family and teammates is what I will always remember.”

FIU players were informed of Knox’s death late Wednesday. Thursday’s practice has been canceled, and grief counselors have been brought in to meet with the team and others from the university community.

Dawson Knox, older brother of Luke Knox, is entering his fourth season with the Bills.

“Our thoughts are with Dawson and his family during this time,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said on Thursday. “We are there with him and support him and his family. Just tragic news I woke up this morning.”

Luke Knox, who was from Brentwood, Tennessee, primarily played for specials teams during his time on the Ole Miss, and had 11 interferences in his four seasons there. He turned into a tight end in 2021 despite making an appearance as a full-back on the FIU roster this season.

McIntyre was the Ole Miss defensive coordinator during Knox’s tenure with the Rebels. McIntyre is in his first season at the FIU.

“He had a special way of making everyone around him feel comfortable and confident,” McIntyre said. “The Luke family is special to me, and you will always be in my heart and in my prayers during this difficult time.”

FIU opened its season on September 1 against Bryant.
