Every time he goes to his locker at Gillette Stadium, McJones is reminded of the most lopsided loss of his career.
SB Nation’s Pats Pulpit’s Brian Hines shared a photo of a Media Scrum with Lil’ Jordan Humphrey Wide Receiver After losing the Patriots 23-21 pre-season to the New York Giants. In the background of the photo, there was a printed image that caught the attention of a reader.
When asked about the photo, Haynes shared that it was in Jones’ closet. The photo was from the Blast Patriots losing to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round of the playoffs and shows Jones with his head down. Written on the photo is “47-17”, the final score from the match.
As Hines mentioned, Jones will likely use the image as motivation to enter his second season.
After an impressive rookie campaign with the New England Patriots, Jones faced the Bills in the opening round of the playoffs. Teams split the regular season streak, thanks in large part to a windstorm in Buffalo during their first regular season game, but the team had no answers on the bills when the items couldn’t lend a helping hand.
Jones would have completed 24 of 38 passes in a playoff loss for 232 yards while throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions. Meanwhile, Josh Allen’s attack and Bell’s squad worked their way up against the Patriots’ defense for the second game in a row. After not having to play once in their game against New England at Gillette Stadium, Allen led the Buffalo attack into a perfect game of sorts on the Wild Card Tour as the team scored touchdown points on every trip at High Mark Stadium.
Jones was not questioned about the photo as he did not play in the Patriots season opener, but it will likely be brought up the next time the quarterback is in front of the media.
