Three of Europe’s top five leagues kick off this weekend with the other two starting next weekend. The English Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 will play on Friday, while La Liga and Serie A have a week to start.
The men’s European football season starts very early this year due to the World Cup in November. Leagues will take breaks so their players can play in the World Cup and seasons will end in May sooner than usual.
The return of the Football League in Europe means the return of a lot of betting options at BetMGM. While football is not as popular as American football in the United States, it can be a very profitable endeavor for bettors. And at least a stable source of work. It may seem like there is a soccer match to bet on every day during league seasons.
Four of Europe’s top five leagues have favorites that are even better than money. The biggest favorites are in France and Spain, with defending champions Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid each totaling 1,000 points to win the league. Bayern Munich – 500 to win the Bundesliga and Manchester City – 140 to win the Premier League.
The race for the Serie A title looks bewildering. Inter Milan and Juventus are both at +175 to win the league while Milan are at +275. Roma is the No. 4 candidate after signing Paulo Dybala at +800 and Napoli at +1300. For reference, Napoli’s odds as the No. 5 candidate in Serie A are better than those of Tottenham as the No. 3 candidate in the Premier League.
Today, Friday, Bayern Munich begins the Bundesliga season with a match against Eintracht Frankfurt, the European champion. Eintracht +425 to win in regulation while Bayern is the favourite at -225. The German giant has added Sadio Mane from Liverpool this season and boasts the best attacking force in the league. That’s why Friday’s game is up/down at 3.5 with an increase at only -115.
Crystal Palace and Arsenal will participate in the first match of this season in the English Premier League. Al Qasr +320 to win the match at home and draw +260. Arsenal win -115 as they aim to return to the Champions League. Arsenal played in the opening game on Friday pre-season and lost to newly promoted Brentford to open the season in their first of three consecutive losses to start the season.
The biggest Premier League game of the weekend comes on Sunday when Man City travel to West Ham. The Hammers flirted with a place in the Champions League for most of the season in 2021-22 and it was +700 to beat City in Erling Haaland’s first Premier League game. While City are -275 and the biggest favorite of the weekend, we wouldn’t be completely shocked if West Ham snuck a point out of the game.

Both New York teams in the big series
The NL East’s leading New York Mets continue their home streak with the Atlanta Braves in second on Friday night. Taijuan Walker takes the hill for the Mets as they prefer 1.5 at +140. Mets -140 to win the game directly and the running total is 8.5. The Mets won 6-4 Thursday night to extend their lead over the Braves in the division to 4.5 games.
Meanwhile, the Yankees start a three-game game at the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night. The Cardinals are now tied up with the Brewers in the lead at NL Central after the Cardinals beat the Cubs twice on Thursday and knocked out the Buccaneers for the Brewers.
Nestor Curtis starts with the Yankees while the Cardinals will take out Dakota Hudson. The Yankees are the favorites with an average of 1.5 points at +115 and the direct favorites at -145. The Cardinal winning at home with any result has a probability of +120.
Sungjae Im now a favorite in Wyndham
Sungjae Im two hits the lead at 7-under after the first round of the Wyndham Championship. He is now the favorite to win the tournament at +333 to enter the second round. Round one leader Jun Huo fired a 9-under 61 to start the tournament and is the No.2 favorite at +800. Aaron Wise is +1400 after shooting 65, Billy Horschel at +2000 after shooting 67 in the first round.
Who cashed the bets on Thursday?
The Raiders’ bettors were delighted as they scored a win in their first game of the pre-season on Thursday night. The Raiders beat the Jaguars 27-11 after jumping to a 20-0 lead in the Hall of Fame Game. The Phillies took a short 5-4 win over the Nationals in five rounds and the Dodgers beat the Giants 5-3 despite Clayton Kershaw having to leave the game after just four rounds and 66 runs due to lower back pain.
