John Daly says he begged Greg Norman to be on the track

John Daly was a guest on the Piers Morgan Uncensored show, and soon after the six-minute interview, he revealed that he really wanted to be a part of the LIV Golf Invitational Series, the breakaway league that offers huge signing bonuses, giant wallets, 54-hole championships and no cuts. So every golfer gets something for his efforts. And Daly wasn’t shy about it.

“I begged Greg Norman to let me participate in the LIV Tour,” he said.

He went on to explain just how much he thinks the LIV Circuit is better compared to the PGA Tour or even the PGA Tour Champions, where Daly spends most of his time playing now.

“I played with Brian Harman on a training round, and with some of the other guys on some training rounds at the British Open, as if we were playing with pro players, we got it. Yeah. That’s the backbone of a lot of our tournaments. But, says Brian. Harman, gave us a box of chocolates for the effort.

“I play two to three pro players every week on the Champions Tour and we don’t play for a lot of money on the Champions Tour, so I almost feel like, ‘Okay, I’m not getting much use out of this. What do we do?’

“Look, I’d rather play with amateurs than pro sometimes, but we have to get compensated for that. The LIV Tour gives players that. They play the pros, it’s a big party, they play for a lot of money, and those people who participate in those deserve Round this money.. I think there are a lot of other guys who are worth this money.

Then using both hands to point to himself, Dali said, “Especially this old man.”

Then Morgan mentioned a piece he wrote for New York Post On the hypocrisy of ethics in sports “And a lot of PGA sponsors, for example, do a lot of business in the Middle East.”

Then he asked Daly what he thought of hypocrisy in sports, especially golf.

“Docks, let’s not talk about it. They don’t want to be mentioned in that because, you know, all the business laws and stuff. It’s unbelievable. Politics is so dumb about this. I can talk about Nike, I can talk about other companies. Little kids in Eight-year-olds make shoes for Nike Yeah. We don’t want to get into that, do we? You want to talk about labor laws. We’re talking about golf. Guys who play golf. It’s an international sport.

“The Prince of Saudi Arabia is a wonderful man and he has given a lot of money to golfers who deserve it. Well, there are some who don’t deserve it. [motions to himself again] Because I have to be in that round.”

Daly admitted he’s old but also seems to suggest that Norman might not be inviting more golfers to the LIV.

“Greg says he doesn’t do that anymore.”

Daly went on to say that Bryson Dechambeau told him at the Open Championship that LIV Golf “is the greatest thing on earth. We still play pro. … we play for a lot of money, which is what we deserve to play for.”

Saudi Arabia has been accused of widespread human rights abuses, including politically motivated killings, torture, enforced disappearances, and inhumane treatment of prisoners. Members of the royal family and the Saudi government have been accused of involvement in the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and columnist for the Washington Post.
