Green Bay Packers’ Darnell Savage injured his hamstring in ‘Family Night’ practice

Green Bay, Wes. – Green Bay Packers Safety Start Darnell Savage sustained a hamstring injury while training for the ‘Family Knight’ traditional team at Lambeau Field on Friday.

During singles matches between the receivers and defensive appearances early in practice, Savage paused while trying to cover the Amari Rodgers. Savage, the first pull-up of 2019, watched the remainder of training from the sideline and ice wrapped around his right leg.

“I don’t think it’s a concern,” Savage said. “It’s a quick hit. Some of these things you can’t avoid. I’ll just handle it the right way and listen to those guys out there and I’ll be fine.”

Early on in training camp, Green Bay’s defense mostly faced its way with attack led by four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers but adjusts to playing without an All-Pro Davante Adams future. With Vernon replacing Scott Savage in the squad, strong play for defense continued.

During the red zone period, the starting offense made seven plays inside the 10-yard line but only scored once. Rodgers pulled a touchdown pass into the tight end of Marcedes Lewis against tight coverage from rising quarterback Kwai Walker in the second play.

Next, safety Adrian Amos cut a pass to Randall Cobb, linebacker De’Vondre Campbell stopped Aaron Jones in a plane-sweep-style flop from Rodgers, safety Shawn Davis nearly blocked a pass assigned to Allen Lazard, and defensive tackle Dean Lowry brought Jones down in an escape of 2 .

“I think there are some things we’re doing great and there are a lot of areas that need improvement,” said coach Matt LaFleur. “The only thing our defense has somewhat challenged is the consistency with stopping the run, and then I think they did a great job defending the pass and, in particular, the deep balls and not giving up on a ton of big plays on the field.”

At the start of camp, Rodgers predicted the offense would “play our butts off most days” with a defense that might be the team’s best since winning the Super Bowl in 2010. The Packers re-signed Campbell and cornerback Rasool Douglas, added defensive tackle Garan Reid by free agency, Walker added And defensive back Devonte White interfered in the first round of the draft.

Meanwhile, Green Bay’s offensive fought without Adams, who traded with Raiders in February, and transport workers David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins, who are recovering from torn ACLs.

“It’s a double-edged sword,” LaFleur said. “I hope our defense is really gritty and it’s going to be very difficult to deal with. I think the only area we have to improve is just consistency up front. Defensive front. Our front seven might be too salty, so I hope our attack is much better. But, in At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter who’s there. They have to get the job done and we have to see improvement over the next week and into the pre-season games.”

The Packers will open preseason in San Francisco on Friday night.
