Foresters punch ticket to another NBC World Series with 9-2 semi-final win | Sports

The Santa Barbara Foresters advanced to the NBC World Series Championship with a 9-2 victory over the Seattle Studs in the semifinals Friday in Wichita.

The Foresters will be looking to win three consecutive titles and tenth overall when they face Hays Larks on Saturday.

Both teams got off to a hot start, with the match tied 2-2 after the first half. In the first inning, Miguel Santos of Santa Barbara blasted Homer out front to get the team on the board, followed by an RBI sacrifice of Hudson White’s racket.

However, the big first half was followed by four consecutive goalless rounds as each player settled.

Graham Osman started the game on the bumps for the Foresters, allowing two runs with three strokes and four walks while hitting seven in 5 runs of the action.

With the 2-2 tie still tied, Forster’s attack finally woke up again in the sixth inning. The second half single from Gianni Horvat gave Santa Barbara a 4-2 lead and they never looked back.

The Foresters added a three-game lead in the seventh game thanks to an RBI brace by Gavin Cash and a single courtesy of Blayne Jones to take the game to 7-2.

Santa Barbara continued to stack in eighth, with Santos and Nick McClain hitting the RBI doubles to extend the lead to 9-2.

Bullpen’s combination of Robert Cranz, Jake Faherty and Cole Reeves kept Seattle poised for the remainder of the game, eliminating 3 goalless innings.

McClain led the Foresters by three strokes, while Santos, Rombach, Jones and Hurvat scored a two-stroke performance en route to victory.

The championship match against Hays Larks will take place on Saturday at 5 p.m. PDT. The game can be watched on the NBC World Series YouTube channel and can be heard on 1290AM, FM 96.9, or on KZSB.com.
