Draymond Green says he wasn’t sure if the Warriors would win the title

After missing the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, the Golden State Warriors are back on top, winning their fourth title in eight years. What followed was a retaliatory round of players, pulling receipts from every possible angle, and summoning several people who questioned the team’s ability to return to championship form.

On an episode of “The Draymond Green Show” released Thursday morning, the forward recounted the uncertainty he felt as Dubs’ injuries escalated.

“today [Klay] “I go back and go down,” Green said. “The day I get back, Steve comes down. It’s like I’m starting to think, ‘This isn’t supposed to happen to us.’ It is not general. I even told one of my buddies like, “I’ll probably see you right after the first round because I don’t see that happening to us.”

The Warriors’ path to the Finals required passing the Nuggets, Grizzlies, and Mavericks, who were defeated in five, six and five matches, respectively. After facing a 2–1 delay, Dobbs beat the Celtics in six games to claim the title. And while a vacant playoff round for a seven-game series doesn’t sound like the most difficult thing in the world, it was enough to make the four-time All-Star skeptical.

“The first tournament we won, after that regular season, I knew like, ‘We got the best team, but we didn’t know how to win the championship,’” Green said. “In 2017 and 2018, it was just a matter of getting to the day we could win. . Once we got to that date, I knew we could win. This year was different.”

With Kevin Durant wearing the blue and yellow threads, the Warriors returned with the title after just 17 games in the 2017 playoffs and 21 games the following year. Both final rounds concluded with easy victories over the Cavaliers, one of which was a sweep.

Draymond wasn’t the only Warrior to cast doubt on the team’s championship aspirations. Even the regular season ups and downs left Steve Kerr unsure of what would happen in the playoffs.

“When we started camp, I thought we could be very good but I didn’t know we could win everything,” Kerr said. He said during the address procession.

At a press conference after the finals, General Manager Bob Myers Remember a conversation He had during the playoffs with the coach.

“Steve said to me at one point, ‘You know, I don’t know if this is a championship team,’” Myers said. “We know what a championship team is, I don’t know if it is a championship team.” Myers hinted during the press conference that he agreed with Kerr’s ideas.

However, the Warriors returned to the Finals after a two-year absence, ending the season as NBA champions. When adversity inevitably strikes in title defense, perhaps the stunning 2022 Tour will prevent Doubt from creeping in.
