Bayonne will hold its first annual Super Soccer Tournament on Saturday

Bayonne High School Soccer has announced that it will host its first annual Super Soccer on Saturday.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 20, from noon to 6 p.m., at the Ahern Veterans Memorial Stadium located near Newark Bay at the foot of West 25th Street.

The event will feature several football games that will feature current Bayonne High School football players, BHS alumni and veterans of the Bayonne Youth Soccer Association (BYSA) travel teams.

Games will include: BYSA Youth Travel Teams: Boys Under 9; boys under 12 years old; girls under 9 years old; girls under the age of ten; girls under 12; There will also be a Bayonne High School Boys Varsity game and a Bayonne High School Girls Varsity game.

Bayonne High School Alumni will feature Arszulowicz versus Team Breyan, named after two of Bayonne High School Soccer’s leading coaches.

Ray Arszulowicz started the girls’ soccer program and worked as a girls’ soccer coach for many years. He also served as an assistant football coach.

Jim Bryan was an early boys soccer coach at Bayonne High School. Under his leadership, the boys’ soccer program gained prominence at the county and state levels.

A new annual tradition?

Super Soccer Saturday will also offer prizes, a franchise platform, contests, food trucks, raffles, and more. All proceeds will benefit the Bayonne High School Soccer Programme.

“I would like to encourage the entire Bayonne community to join us for an amazing day of football and fun on Saturday, August 20,” said club president Jim Mock. “We look forward to bringing together current and former players from Bayonne High School and BYSA, along with football fans from the community. Come and join us to support the amazing high school footballers.”

The event is hosted by Bayonne High School’s Girls’ Football Enhanced Parents Club, called SPORT-BHS. This was originally planned before the COVID pandemic and was put on hold after the virus outbreak.

“The time now seems ideal as the entire BHS football program has evolved with the addition of new coaches at all levels,” said Mock. “The head coach for the boys is Jim McCaffrey. The head coach for the girls is Victor Besantz. We hope this event will become an annual celebration.”

“Our mission for this event is clear in our slogan, Bring Bayonne together,” Mok said. “Having a day at football showcasing the many teams representing Bayonne will increase support for our high school program.”
